Why are people promoted?

You might have the qualifications to be considered for your dream job, but you won't get it unless you can signal that you're "leadership material" and that you "have what it takes."
👀What does it take to be promoted to a senior leadership position?
There are three key factors:
1. Gravitas – how you act.
What is your confidence level, your credibility? Do you “walk the talk”? Do you exhibit decisiveness, charisma and emotional intelligence? What is your reputation? Do you have a vision?
2. Communication – how you speak and how you listen.
Words are only 7% of communication, the rest is tone, body language and eloquence. By eloquence, we mean the ability to adapt language in terms of form and tone according to our audience.
There are things that can hold you back.
The lack of ability to make eye contact, constant device checking, breathlessness and visible trembling, foot-tapping, doodling, high pitched or shrill voice will not help you to be promoted.
3. Your appearance – how you look.
Dress for the job you want not the one you have.
Find a role model.
Be aware of the importance of self-care.
Evolve your personal brand. Your presence on social media should reflect your professionalism.
Find which style works in your microclimate. Sales, finance or arts jobs have different demands.
How you dress can signal resilience or resistance.
